♥ Story ♥

Getting fit for some of us can be hard. Finding excuses is easy. The author even encourages the listen to send in their excuse if it is not covered in this title. She manages to cover most of the common excuses we have. There were several I know I use in the lot.

This is not a how to get fit book. It is more of a motivational. How to get out of your own way. We are often our own worse enemy!

I felt called out after listening to What’s Your Excuse for Not Getting Fit?. Things should be self-evident, but denial is a devious bed fellow! I came away feeling more self-aware to my own self-sabotage and with a hope for a more fit future!

Non-Fiction Read: Keto Diet for Beginners by David D. Kings

My ReviewsWhat is Keto and is it right for me?

This is a Non-Fiction title by David D. Kings.

Read by Harry Roger Williams III

Length: 1 hr and 19 mins

♥ Story ♥

Have you ever wanted to know what the Keto diet is all about? Then this is a good introduction. I myself was fairly familiar with the concept, but I learned a lot more after listening to this title. For example: I found that I am, most likely, not a good candidate for this diet without some more research on my part. 🙁 I have low blood sugar (Glucose), not associated with diabetes, and this would be a hard diet to maintain without modifications. Mine is a special case, and for the average individual, this would not be a problem.

There is a lot of information packed into this short read and I found having the ebook to refer to and make notes in a plus. It’s worth a listen if you are wanting to know about the Keto diet and if it might be a good fit for you. This diet is not going to be right for everyone. Let’s face it, if that were the case, the diet industry would be very small indeed. It does sound like a diet I would be interested in if I can make it work with my odd body chemistry!

Review: The Innocent Dead (The Maid, Mother, and Crone #1) by Jill Nojack

My ReviewsGhosts, witches, and kittens oh my!

The Innocent Dead is a Cozy Mystery and #1 in The Maid, Mother, and Crone Series by Jill Nojack.

Read by Brian Callanan

HFN Ending

This series is a spin-off of the Bad Tom Series.
You get a temporary ending point, but the overall story arc continues.
My philosophy is ALWAYS to read a series in order! :-).

Length: 6 hrs and 56 mins

Content Advisory:
There are some mild sex references and scenes, but not much and no “C” words were used.

♥ Story ♥

The Innocent Dead hits the ground running, and almost leaves those of us who have not read the previous series behind. It took me a while to aclimate to this title, but once I caught on, I didn’t want to let go!

The series focuses on the triad of Maid, Mother, and Crone. Don’t assume elder witch Natalie is the crone, because she will be more than happy to tell you why you are wrong. The ladies of the story all come with their own strengths and weaknesses, but each one is just as endearing. There is also potential fresh blood being introduced.

This story has a mystery at it’s heart, and it is an adventure to figure out. A murderer from the past is killing again, but the one they are blaming has been missing for several decades. Lucky for them, Natalie sees dead people, quite litereally. But how do you explain that to a skeptic Sherriff? Seriously, they need to get that guy a girlfriend.

It’s entertaining, heartwarming, and all magical. I want to read the Bad Tom series now. Hopefully that will come to audio in the near future. I will definately be listening to the rest of this series.

@ Chapter 04

Atlanta, Georgia—August 2011

What is this guys obession? or should I say Why?

There was far too much preparation ahead of him to be reckless now, and too much at stake.

Sidney, Georgia, the day after the party
(aka hanging with Dorthy)

So…… Bobby is our hero. Interesting.

So is she going to be staying in his time or is he going to be going to hers?

Piper sounds like a good friend to have!

Piper reminds me of my friend Malissa who I also met in 7th grade. Being an empath that wears their heart on their sleeve makes you a target and she never hesitated to be the muscle I couldn’t be.
–Thanks & I Love You Malissa!! XOXO—

(I’m such a sap, I cried just writing that)

What the hell is a keeping room?
Sounds like something out of a dungeon!

Looked it up.
A keeping room is a term that hearkens back to Colonial times when you only had 1 room in your house. Nowadays it would be more of a great room. A multiple function area near the kitchen where everyone can see everyone else.
Why she is talking like she is in Gone with Wind, I have no idea!

Ok, now we are going back and forth in time in Lacey’s head as she tries to remember what happened, so try not to get lost!

Lake Lanier, Georgia—September 2011

Nick Cramer has not been in the story yet, just incase you are wondering.

This week, he would confront his first real challenge, Nick Cramer.

Sidney, Georgia—November 6, 1949

34 years before she was born, so her parents are kids right now?

Daddy issues, figures!

“I don’t think love is something you look for. It just finds you.” He glanced over at me. “But you have to recognize it.”

It IS truly 1949, and the lake DOESN’T exist.

@ Chapter 06

Lake Lanier, Georgia—October 2011

What has he got himself into?

He’d put everything he owned at risk, including his life, and Lacey’s.

Sidney, Georgia—November 1949

I wonder how old Bobby’s sister is?
It sounds like she is close in age to Lacey.

“He says he wants the brass ring.”

Lacey is getting way too carried away with her pessimistic point of view!
Stop trying to turn Bobby into a bad guy!

Brass ring says to me that he is looking for a wife!
Sheesh Lady, its 1949!

What’s got Bobby worried? & What plant does he work for?

How much DOES Nick know?
Lots of timey-wimey questions to be answered!

Review: Felicity’s Power by J. Arlene Culiner

My ReviewsIt’s never to late for the one that got away!

HEA with no cliffhanger!

This is a Standalone Romance.

Content Advisory:
There are mild sex actions and thoughts, but not much and no “C” words were used.

♥ Story ♥

Felicity and Marek met 43 years ago in college. Their attraction came quite sudden and intense as it often does when you’re so young. Different ideas of what each wanted for their future, eventually lead to their demise.

This story is told through a series of flashbacks, and at times it can get a bit confusing. There is no true aural clues to signal the shifts in time. I ended up reading along with the ebook as I listened to the audiobook.

Felicity and Marek are both incredibly stubborn and their lack of communication makes it even worse for their relationship. Felecity’s penchant for running away from her problems, doesn’t help either. And she doesn’t just run to a friend’s house, she runs to the other side of the globe!

“Felicity, do you always question everything?”
“Yes.”

Forty years and all it entails, doesn’t damper the attraction and love these two still feel. But just as the warmth returns so does the cold. The epic level of tenacity and determination to hold out for the other to make the first move is astounding. The constant power tug of war carried on a little too long in my opinion.

It is refreshing to have the main characters of a love story not be so young. Yes, there are many flashbacks to their youth, so we have a lot of interaction with them in their early 20s. Ultimately, the main meat and potatoes of the story, takes place with them in their 60s. Their bodies may of aged but they are still young at heart.
