Review: Acceptable Risk (Chattanooga Supernaturals #3) By Candace Blevins

My ReviewsA Woman + A Hot Leopard + 2 Sexy Wolves = Yum!

Acceptable Risk is #3 in the Chattanooga Supernaturals Series
by Candace Blevins.

Noah Michael Levine narrates.

HEA, NO cheating, no cliffhangers!

This could be taken as a standalones, but they are connected by characters. I always advise to read in order to get the most out of the experience.

Length: 2 hours and 57 minutes

Content Warning: This is a Reverse Harem. SEX! Lots! And it gets kinky! So if you do not like that sort of stuff, then you should avoid.

♥ Story ♥

This is a True Reverse Harem. All the men are there to please Bethany. They do not have sex with each other. Acceptable Risk features characters from previous books in this series as well as those from both the Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club Series and the Safeword Series.

Bethany wants a harem like her friend Cassie, but just for right now. This girl has some relatioship issue! Mac, Jonathan, and Ranger are the men that are willing to extend that offer to our heroine. They have some issues of their own. The biggest being that they are supernaturals! Bethany freaks out more over the “mine” thing than the “furry” thing.

This is a short listen with a LOT of steam, but manages to have a lot of heart too! I like how caring the guys were. They were willing to talk Bethany through everything. That right there is the biggest fantasy part of the whole story !

Released: Feb. 21, 2018

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Bethany has joked for years that if she ever settles down, it’ll be with a harem of men, only it isn’t a joke anymore.

Mac is a new werewolf, and still must be watched at every moment to be sure he stays in control. His kink has always been ménage, so when he overhears the beautiful redhead at the bar wanting to take on not only him, but also the werewolf and wereleopard chaperoning his night out… he has to convince them to let him take her home. He might not be trustworthy with a human woman alone, yet, but with two powerful shapeshifters in bed with them, what could go wrong?

Previously published in the Every Which Way Anthology.

Candace Blevins has published more than thirty books. She lives with her husband of twenty years and their two daughters. When not working or driving young teens all over the place, she can be found reading, writing, meditating, or swimming. The family’s beloved, goofy, retired racing greyhound is usually at her side as she writes, quietly keeping her company.

Candace writes Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, Contemporary BDSM Romance, and a kick-ass Motorcycle Club series.

Her urban fantasy series, Only Human, gives us a world where weredragons, werewolves, werelions, three different species of vampires, and a variety of other mythological beings exist.

Candace’s two paranormal romance series, The Chattanooga Supernaturals and The Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club, are both sister series to the Only Human series, and give some secondary characters their happily ever after.

Her contemporary Safeword series gives us characters who happen to have some extreme kinks. Relationships can be difficult enough without throwing power exchange into the mix, and her books show characters who care enough about each other to fight to make the relationship work. Each couple in the Safeword series gives the reader a different take on the lifestyle.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Ashley Holt. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

Q&A with Author Candace Blevins
  • Was a possible audiobook recording something you were conscious of while writing?
    • Not at all. I wrote this for an anthology years ago, and published it as a novella when the rights returned to me. It’s a nice entry into both my Chattanooga Supernaturals series and my Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club series, so it seemed the perfect choice for my first foray into audio. When I eventually look for narrators for Only Human, my urban fantasy series, I’m going to want a male and female working in tandem, but for my first venture, I thought I should keep it as simple as possible.
  • How did you select your narrator?
    • I have the most awesome reader group ever (Candace’s Kinksters, feel free to look us up on Facebook and come play with us!), and I asked them to tell me their favorite narrators. I listened to the top ten men they listed (with three men and one woman in the menage, it seemed logical to hire a man), and I loved Noah Michael Levine’s voice.
  • How closely did you work with your narrator before and during the recording process? Did you give them any pronunciation tips or special insight into the characters?
    • Noah is a dream to work with. I told him where each character was from, a little about their personalities, and how I envisioned they sounded. It was important we didn’t get a caricature of a southern accent for Jonathan and Bethany, and I think he did a great job.
  • How do you manage to avoid burn-out? What do you do to maintain your enthusiasm for writing?
    • I have so many stories in my head, and I write in several different genres, so burnout isn’t a problem for me. My bikers let me play with antiheroes, my urban fantasy series lets me move away from romance, and my dark series lets me get down and dirty. And of course, I have some romance series where I can let people find their happily ever after. Also, if I tire of writing werewolves, I can switch to vampires, or lions, or even ravens or grizzly bears.
  • Is there a particular part of this story that you feel is more resonating in the audiobook performance than in the book format?
    • Noah Michael Levine’s voice is melt-in-your panties good, especially when he goes all Dom as Ranger. Yummm.
  • What do you say to those who view listening to audiobooks as “cheating” or as inferior to “real reading”?
    • I don’t see it that way at all. Some people learn by seeing, others by hearing. It only makes sense that the auditory crowd would prefer to listen rather than look. All the words are the same — it’s the same book, no matter which format you choose.
  • In your opinion, what are the pros and cons of writing a stand-alone novel vs. writing a series?
    • I’ve only written one stand-alone, and it’s currently banned on Amazon. My publisher is fighting it, but in the meantime, you can find Absolute Power Exchange at Kobo, Apple, Smashwords, BN, and other vendors. The con, obviously, is that once I was done with the couple, I’ll never have an opportunity to visit them again. In a series, I love revisiting couples after their book’s complete, seeing them through the eyes of others, and watching them live out their happily ever after. On the pro side, it was so much easier to write a book without having to constantly stay on top of how the events I was writing would impact the timeline of the rest of the series, or to make sure I stayed true to the rules and personalities of characters from other books. I have four series in one universe, and while I love being able to swap characters around, it takes a lot to keep everything straight.
  • What’s next for you?
    • The eleventh book in my motorcycle club series just released, and I’m so excited to finally be able to share it with readers.I’ve been working on an epic Faerie story on and off for over five years, and last year I put it on Radish, so I was kind of forced to finish it since I had to write to keep up with the chapter releases. It’s currently going under massive revisions, and will be released as four books, titled Slave, Lady, Consort, and Queen. I don’t have release dates yet, but I’m hoping to be able to release each book a month apart.

Review: The Sheikh’s Contract Fiancée (Almasi Sheikhs #1) by Leslie North

My ReviewsHot And Entertaining

The Sheikh’s Contract Fiancée is #1 of the Almasi Sheikhs Series
by Leslie North.

Craig Van Ness narrates.

HEA, NO cheating, no cliffhangers!

Even though these are listed as being able to be read as standalones, they are connected by characters. I always advise to read in order to get the most out of the experience.

Length: 3 hrs and 5 mins

Content Warning: SEX! Plus Annabelle has a BIG potty mouth! So if you do not like sex or cursing, then you should avoid.

“Not all love fits inside the convenient boxes we make for it. It seeps out, one way or another, in ways we least expect it.”
–Sheikh Imaad Almasi

♥ Story ♥

A bit of a new spin on the Sheikh’s arranged marriage plot. Usually it’s an arrangement made by their father to a woman from their country that they are trying to avoid. This time the deal is with an American father trying to sweeten a merger deal.

Imaad ❤ Annabelle

Sheikh Imaad Almasi is the youngest of the Almasi brothers. The merger is necessary to prevent massive dismissals, but he doesn’t like being cornered into marriage. He is the one to initially come up with the plan: to play along until the merger is complete.

Annabelle Thomas doesn’t have the best relationship with her father, but agrees to be his representative in Parsabad. She is to see to the finial details, sign the paperwork, and in exchange, her mother’s hospital bills will be paid in full. It is not until she arrives that the Fine Print is revealed to her. She agrees to go along with Imaad’s plan but not without a contract. Annabelle swears like a champ, and I love it! It’s not excessive, but sometimes in life you need a good curse word, or 4, :-).

Life doesn’t go according to their plans, and its oh so good! This story is HOT and entertaining. Although making love out in the desert worries me. Just like the beach, sand gets EVERYWHERE! It is refreshing for both the Hero and Heroine to be equally strong/dominate. Often there is a deficit in one direction or another. There are still 2 more brothers to go and I can’t wait!

Author: Bella Andre

Narrator: Eva Kaminsky

Series: The New York Sullivans, Book 3

Publisher: Oak Press, LLC

Released: Jan. 9, 2018

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Alec Sullivan has always believed he has it all. A billion-dollar private aviation business. A penthouse apartment in New York City. Beautiful women who know better than to expect him ever to fall in love. And great siblings for whom he’d do anything. But when Alec’s business partner passes away and leaves everything to a daughter Alec never knew about, in an instant everything in his life turns upside down – all because of Cordelia.

Cordelia always thought she was perfectly happy with her life. She owns a garden store she loves, lives in a pretty little cottage in the same town as her adoptive parents, and figures there’s plenty of time to meet Mr. Right. But she never counted on becoming the surprise heir to a fortune – or on meeting a man like Alec Sullivan. A shockingly sexy billionaire who makes her heart race and melt all at the same time.

Neither Alec nor Cordelia plans on getting any closer than they have to. Only, how can either of them fight this kind of heat, this depth of desire? And when Cordelia needs Alec’s support, it’s pure instinct for him to be there for her. But when it’s her turn to help him confront his deepest pain, will Alec let her in? Or will he push her away, just as he’s pushed away everyone who’s loved him for the past 30 years….

Review: You Do Something To Me (New York Sullivan’s, #3) by Bella Andre

My ReviewsGet Some Popcorn, Because This Is Going To Be Good!

You Do Something To Me is #3 of the New York Sullivan’s Series, and #17 of the The Sullivan’s Series by Bella Andre.

Eva Kaminsky narrates.

HEA, NO cheating, no cliffhangers!

Even though these are listed as being able to be read as standalones, they are connected by characters. I always advise to read in order to get the most out of the experience.

Length: 8 hrs and 4 mins

Content Warning: SEX! YES, Both in thoughts and actions, so if you do not like sex, then you should avoid.

♥ Story ♥

This is technically #03 in a spin-off series, but it is also part of the bigger Sullivan world. I did not have any problems, but it is obivious that you are late to the game at this point. There are a lot of cameos from past characters so if you are one that dislikes spoilers and you plan to read/listen to the whole Sullivan Series, then you might want to put this on the back burner and get to that first. I do have plans to go back to the begining and start anew now that the 3 book audio tour is over.

Alec ❤ Cordelia

Alec Sullivan is the oldest of the New York brood. He is the one that had to step up and take care of everyone when his mother died and his father went in hiding. Like his siblings, this shaped his opinions on love and marriage for the negative. His sudo-father and business partner, Gordon Whitley, passes away at the beginning of this story and it starts Alec’s journey through the rabbit hole. This only gets curiouser once he meets Her!

Cordelia Langley is Gordon’s secret daughter, and new heir to half of Alec’s throne. She is a botanist and small business owner by trade, and had no clue of her father’s identity until lawyers showed up at her door. She is amazed by the Sullivans and their bond. Cordelia is a down-to-earth kind of gal, both figuratively and literally. Her honesty and simple view of life throws Alec for a loop.

I’m not going to lie, I really didn’t like Alec very much after books 1 & 2! He was a huge grumpy pain in the butt. He managed to win me over though. You get the backstory you know already, but through Alec’s eyes. It softened him in my mind. I saw the ending coming, but it was the most logical solution! The only bad thing I can say is that it’s going to suck big time having to wait for Harry’s book!
