Author: Bella Andre

Narrator: Eva Kaminsky

Series: The New York Sullivan’s, Book 2

Publisher: Oak Press, LLC

Released: Jan. 10, 2017

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Suzanne Sullivan doesn’t need a bodyguard. After all, she’s one of the most successful digital security specialists in the world―so she can most certainly take care of herself despite the problems she’s been running into lately. Unfortunately, her three brothers don’t agree. So when Mr. Way-Too-Handsome shows up bound and determined to protect her, whether she wants him there or not, sparks definitely start to fly. Because she has absolutely no intention of falling for the bodyguard she never wanted in the first place…

Roman Huson has vowed to do whatever it takes to protect Suzanne Sullivan from harm. And her brothers would kill him for so much as looking at her the wrong way. The only problem is that he’s never been hired to work for anyone so beautiful, or brilliant, before. Between trying to keep up with her―and working like hell to keep from kissing her breathless―he’s up against the most difficult challenge of his life. Especially when it turns out that the passion, and connection, between them is hotter than anything he’s ever known…

Bella Andre is the New York Times, USA Today, Publishers Weekly and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of “The Sullivans”, “The Morrisons” and “The Maverick Billionaires” series.

Having sold more than 7 million books, Bella Andre’s novels have been #1 bestsellers around the world and have appeared on the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists 64 times. She has been the #1 Ranked Author at Amazon (on a top 10 list that included Nora Roberts, JK Rowling, James Patterson and Stephen King). Apple iBooks named her one of their “Bestselling Authors of All Time” (alongside Nicholas Sparks, Nora Roberts and EL James). And Publishers Weekly named Oak Press, the publishing company she created to publish her own books, the Fastest-Growing Independent Publisher in the US. After signing a groundbreaking 7-figure print-only deal with Harlequin MIRA, Bella’s “The Sullivans” series is being released in paperback in the US, Canada, and Australia.

Known for “sensual, empowered stories enveloped in heady romance” (Publishers Weekly), her books have been Cosmopolitan Magazine “Red Hot Reads” twice and have been translated into ten languages. Winner of the Award of Excellence, The Washington Post called her “One of the top writers in America”; and she has been featured in Entertainment Weekly, NPR, USA Today, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, and TIME Magazine. A graduate of Stanford University, she has given keynote speeches at publishing conferences from Copenhagen to Berlin to San Francisco, including a standing-room-only keynote at Book Expo America in New York City.

Bella also writes the New York Times bestselling Four Weddings and a Fiasco series as Lucy Kevin. Her “sweet” contemporary romances also include the new USA Today bestselling Walker Island series written as Lucy Kevin.

If not behind her computer, you can find her reading her favorite authors, hiking, swimming or laughing. Married with two children, Bella splits her time between the Northern California wine country and a 100-year-old log cabin in the Adirondacks.

Review: Since I Fell for You (New York Sullivan’s, #2) by Bella Andre

My ReviewsI Want To Listen to Whitney or Dolly!

Since I Fell for You is #2 of the New York Sullivan’s Series, and #16 of the The Sullivan’s Series by Bella Andre.

Eva Kaminsky narrates.

HEA, NO cheating, no cliffhangers!

Even though these are listed as being able to be read as standalones, they are connected by characters. I always advise to read in order to get the most out of the experience.

Length: 8 hours and 48 minutes

Content Warning: SEX! It takes them more than half the book to get there, but YES, Both in thoughts and actions, so if you do not like sex, then you should avoid.

♥ Story ♥

This is technically #02 in a spin-off series, but it is also part of the bigger Sullivan world. I did not have any problems, however there are a lot of cameos from past characters so I’m sure if I was up to date on the series, it would of been a boon to me, rather than furious note taking. I do have plans to go back to the begining and start a new once the 3 book audio tour is over.

Suzanne ❤ Roman

We met Suzanne Sullivan back in book #1. She is Drake’s older sister, and an IT Genius! She is having some issues with competing tech firms and against her wishes, her brothers hire a bodyguard.

Roman Huson is an old friend of the Sullivan boys, and someone that they have full confidence in protecting their stubborn sibling. Suzanne tries to refuse, but they have set Roman up in the condo next to her, so there is no escape. She instead opts for getting him fired by trying to seduce him, counting on her brother’s over protective natures to do the firing for her. Being a coding nerd who rarely dresses up in more than worn jeans, t-shirts, and comfortable shoes, it is pretty obvious to everyone what’s up! Except the men in question who all seem to be completely clueless.

The threats didn’t really seem all too serious, being mostly annoying crank phone calls at all hours of the day and multi attempts to hack her servers. Suzanne is a master at her job so she never loses any data, its just a time sink. Once anything serious actually comes of the matter, it is wrapped up so fast that it seemed like a waste of a plot line. There were great moments along the way, don’t get me wrong, I was just waiting for something more to happen, and it didn’t. It’s still worth the credit, and I’m excited to get to the next one to hear, pain in the butt, Alec get his comeuppance!

Bella Andre stumbled a little with this one, but overall it still had that Sullivan heart and upheld their family creed and motto! Alec’s book is going to be soooo good! I can’t wait!

♥ Narrator(s) ♥

Eva Kaminsky’s performance didn’t disappoint. There were a LOT of extra characters this time around with much of the Sullivan brood making appearance for the event toward the end of the book. There was a need for an Irish accent in this one, to which she pulled it off brilliantly!

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Millions of readers/listeners have fallen in love with the San Francisco and Seattle Sullivans. Now get ready to fall head over heels for the New York Sullivans!

World-renowned artist Drake Sullivan doesn’t paint women. Ever. Not when he knows all too well just how destructive painter/muse relationships can be. But on the day Rosa Bouchard walks onto the cliffs outside his Montauk cottage, Drake is so captivated that he can’t stop himself from bringing her to life on canvas.

Shocked and horrified by the nude photos of her that have just hit the Internet, reality TV star Rosa’s every instinct is to run from her Miami home and hide. After driving all night, she ends up in Montauk, New York, where she doesn’t know a soul and plans to lie low until she can figure out how to deal with the media firestorm – and her own mother, who seems all too happy to sell out Rosa’s happiness for more fame, more fans, and more money. The very last thing Rosa expects is to find, and to fall for, a sinfully sexy man like Drake Sullivan.

Drake has never felt this way about anything he’s painted…and he’s definitely never felt this way about a woman. When they kiss, everything but sweet, breathless desire melts away. But can he convince Rosa to trust – and to love – again after such a devastating betrayal?

Q&A with Author Bella Andre
  • Tell us about the process of turning your book into an audiobook.
    • I have worked with Eva Kaminsky for many years, so as soon as I had the book done and edited, I sent it over to her. And then weeks later, like magic, Eva sent me the finished files for my review. Of course they were perfect, just like always! I can never stop smiling while listening to her narration of my love stories. She truly brings them to life!
  • How did you select your narrator?
    • As soon as I heard Eva Kaminsky, I knew I wanted to work with her. She has narrated more than 35 audiobooks for me and I hope to continue to work with her for many years to come!
  • How closely did you work with your narrator before and during the recording process? Did you give them any pronunciation tips or special insight into the characters?
    • Eva is such a pro that she was able to run with my books without any advice or suggestions from me. It’s one of the many reasons I love working with her – she always does an amazing job, no matter the genre or series.
  • Were there any real life inspirations behind your writing?
    • I’m always inspired by the world around me. For the New York Sullivans, I am able to pull from not only my extensive travels throughout New York state, but also my summers living in a log cabin in the Adirondack mountains with my family. I love writing about my favorite places!
  • How do you manage to avoid burn-out? What do you do to maintain your enthusiasm for writing?
    • I absolutely love to travel, walk, cook and spend time with my friends and family. Shared laughter, fun experiences and seeing new things all help fuel me so that when I open my laptop or notebook to work on a book, I’m ready and raring to go with lots of idea and inspiration.
  • How did you celebrate after finishing this novel?
    • I went for a swim, made and ate a great dinner, then woke up the next morning and started the next book!
  • In your opinion, what are the pros and cons of writing a stand-alone novel vs. writing a series?
    • I’m a big believer in writing books in a series, because as a reader, I absolutely love to follow characters and families through their lives. I write what I love to read!
  • Have any of your characters ever appeared in your dreams?
    • YES! One of my very first books – TAKE ME – came to me, almost in its entirety, in a dream.
  • What bits of advice would you give to aspiring authors?
    • Read a ton and write a ton. And hold focus, even when the noise of the world around you might feel like it’s too loud to concentrate. Writing and reading will always center you and fulfill you.
  • What’s next for you?
    • I am working on the fourth New York Sullivan book – Harry Sullivan’s love story! I am so excited about this book. I’m pretty sure we’ve all been waiting to see who the sexy academic falls in love with. ☺

Review: Now That I’ve Found You (New York Sullivan’s, #1) by Bella Andre

My ReviewsI Want To Learn To Paint With Thread!

Now That I’ve Found You is #1 of the New York Sullivan’s Series, and #15 of the The Sullivan’s Series by Bella Andre.

Eva Kaminsky narrates.

HEA, NO cheating, no cliffhangers!

Length: 7 hours and 45 minutes

Content Warning: SEX! Both in thoughts and actions, so if you do not like sex, then you should avoid.

♥ Story ♥

This is technically #01 in a spin-off series, but it is also part of the bigger Sullivan world. I did not have any problem starting with this one, but I did feel like I was missing out of some of the back story details. I now want to go back to the beginning and read the prior 14.

Drake ❤ Rosa

Drake Sullivan is some-what of recluse with painter-block. He hates being asked uncomfortable questions about his parents, as that seems to be the topic the press fixate on instead of his very successful art career. Drake spots Rosa on the cliffs by his house in a distressed state and he wants her, both to paint and to rescue. He has sworn never to paint a woman as that is what made his father lose his mind, but he can’t help himself.

Rosa Bouchard is trying to hide from the world and the relentless press. She is part of a reality show with her family similar to the Kardashians, with her being the equivalent to Kim. Pictures were taken of her illegally getting in and out of the bath, and have made their way into all the papers and magazines. She goes to the cliffs because they remind her of her deceased father and meets a sexy painter that offers to take care of her for the opportunity to paint her. He encourages her to pursue her own art en-devours of painting with thread, which sounds totally awesome!

This story has a lot of heart as well as steam, which is the best kind of story. It also has an adorable dog named Oscar who totally steals the show! It ends somewhat abruptly, but I think it may pick up close to where this ends in the next book as they were laying the ground work for it. I would recommend you get #2 upfront so you don’t have to wait to continue reading.

Eva Kaminsky performance was excellent. There were clear distinctions between her male and female characters. I did pick up a smidge of Irish accent in the recording. It is not very noticeable and it didn’t interfere with my listening enjoyment. If anything it made me giggle.

Length: 6 hours 59 minutes

Series: Starblind, Book 3

Publisher: Tik Tok Press

Released: Dec. 20, 2017

Genre: Romantic Science Fiction

Taken captive, experimented on, and rescued by a mysterious bounty hunter…all things Zula, The Pittsburgh’s second-in command, didn’t have on her to-do list. She isn’t worried though. After all, as a Galvraron, she has her superior logic to rely on. At least she did….

Suddenly Zula finds her cognitive skills compromised by a device that puts her emotions in control, turning her entire world upside down. Add in the fact that she’s forced to spend time with a man from her past, and soon Zula finds herself wondering: How does one fight adversaries such as love and lust? And does she really want to?

D.T. Dyllin is a bestselling author who writes paranormal, sci-fi, and contemporary romance. Basically, anything with a love story is her kryptonite. Her obsession with affairs-of-the-heart is what first drove her to begin twisting her own tales of scorching romance.

Q&A with Narrator Ashley Holt
  • Do you read reviews for your audiobooks?
    • Yes, and my husband wishes I wouldn’t. 😉 People either love me or hate me. Years ago, an actor friend once told me that you shouldn’t read reviews, because you might start to change your style based on what you read. Wise words, I think.
  • If so, which ones stand out to you most, positive or negative?
    • When people get what I’m trying to do with the character. Someone said about Starblind that they “loved Jane’s sass and snark”. Made my day! Um, negative? Do we really have to go there? I’ve had someone say I never should have been chosen for that book. Another time I had someone get angry at me because the author anthropomorphized animals. That just killed me, because I LOVED voicing those kittens. They were all boy cats, and I could have done it all day!
  • What type of the review comments do you find most constructive?
    • Things like “she spoke too quickly”. That means the listener isn’t getting everything I say! Also I found out that a lot of people listen at 1.5x speed. Again thats the radio voice creeping in. Radio is fast, because you have to hit certain marks at exactly the right time.
  • Who is your “dream author” that you would like to record for?
    • Not dream author as much as dream GENRE. LitRPG is fantastic. It combines many of my favorite things. (I was an onlinegamer long before women were accepted in that world)
  • If you could narrate one book from your youth what would it be and why?
    • Dickens, Dickens, Dickens.
  • What do you say to those who view listening to audiobooks as “cheating” or as inferior to “real reading”?
    • Here have your dope slap.
  • What bits of advice would you give to aspiring audiobook narrators?
    • Be patient, don’t be afraid to ask for advice, be very careful about who you hire as a coach.
  • What’s next for you?
    • I am currently working on: Book 4 of the Starblind series!!!A revision of a BDSM Best Seller I did a year ago.A fictional history of Maria Luisa of Spain, wife to Leopold II, Holy Roman EmperorA university textbook about an American woman who settled in Palestine in the 19th centuryMain Street, by Sinclair Lewis (my first classic I am SO EXCITED)A firefighter romance. I jokingly call it book 3 of the triumvirate. Because I have already done the sports romance (my life was VERY meta during that book) and the cop romance.2 very dystopian novels, one by an Australian author that is BRILLIANT. The second one is by an Italian author, and I haven’t gotten too far into it, but the premise is great and the translation is excellent. An Encyclopedia of musical terms.
  • Bonus question: Any funny anecdotes from inside the recording studio?
    • Not so much from the studio, but its still funny. For a while, I kept getting sent auditions/books with lesbian lead characters. I was the go-to apparently. Coach says its the resonance in my voice. I did 19 short books about a lesbian dominiatrix, in addition to a couple of other full length books. After a while, my husband started to get shall we say, CONCERNED, which just cracked me up.
    • Mostly the in studio stuff are the “derps” we have. In the narrators group on Facebook, we have threads of the day where we post phrases that are tripping us up. Those can get pretty funny.
