Wow! What an evil man!

Wasn’t expecting such a horrible and violent villain.

Gaston is a playground bully in comparison to this guy. Who knows what this vile man is going to come up with to punish Victor and Thessaly. What wrong was done to him to constitute such hatred?

I’m glad to see that there are a few people that care unconditionally for the Beast! He has a lot of redeeming qualities of character, even if he doesn’t want to see them.

It makes my heart hurt for Victor!

Time for Beauty to make a deal with the Beast, and oh what a deal it is!

I am so glad I don’t live in this time period. Lack of modern day conveniences and health care aside, it really sucked to be female. Where, even if you were from wealth and status, you were bought and sold like livestock. Your money and station in life only effected what you were traded for. Regardless of what your virtue was worth, you were first and foremost to be a baby factory for your husband. That’s without drugs of any sort, any prenatal anything, and without a proper doctor most the time. Yikes!

I do feel bad for the Beast though. You would think that money makes the heart grow fonder for a lot of shallow women, but apparently there are a plethora of eligible wealthy men in the area. You would think at least 1, if not several desperate status climbers would be willing to jump at being his wife regardless of looks. It’s sad that people would be so stuck up that they would rather married and old wrinkly man than a young viral one that just happens to have a bunch of scars.

So sad!

What a good start!

I was pulled in right away and really want to see where this goes.

The narrator has a good voice but the pacing seemed a bit too fast. This could just be me, but thankfully Audible allows for speed changes which totally did the trick.

Chapter 2 confuses me a little in the wording. The term “abbess” is used as if the person in reference runs a brothel or something similar to a prostitution ring. I always thought an abbess was the term for a female abbot, but the way it is referenced here makes me think that this is not the case. Maybe nuns did that back in the day, but I’m thinking it’s a reference to something else that, as an American, I don’t get. If anyone out there is from England or aware of the reference, please comment below. I would very much like to know and understand. As far as the story goes, however, you won’t be lost. The meaning the author is trying to convey is quite clear. I am just far to nerdy for my good. 🙂
