Review: A Dragonlings’ Magical Christmas

A Dragonlings' Magical Christmas
A Dragonlings’ Magical Christmas by S.E. Smith
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Full review to come later but I just had to sound off on this title.

♥ I loved it! ♥

I laughed and cried and then did one of those gasping, cover your mouth and cry in pure joy at the end! The ending takes you all the way back to the beginning! Those of you that are fans of this series will know exactly what I mean by that once you read this story. I can’t wait to read whats next!

There will be some spoilers to those that have not read the
“whole”
series as in the ones that are technically listed as another series
Curizan Warriors Series
&
Sarafin Warriors Series
. These do not come in audio yet so I have not read them either but I don’t care about spoilers. The characters will be familiar and most likely dear to you either way. I will go back and re-listen to this story after the other series finally come out in audio.

Review: Backstage Pass

Backstage Pass
Backstage Pass by Olivia Cunning
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Descent read.
Will read the next in series.

I did find the male characters of the band to be far more endearing than the females, especially the main character Brian Sinclair. Even rude and vulgar Sed eventually wins you over. The females, however, are more one note including the lead. Myrna is almost painful in her constant determination to reject the love she so clearly wants and the groupies all come off as vapid stalkers. I know that exists but it would have be nice to see a little bit of variety in them.

There is a lot of sex of many types and varieties including bondage, multiple people, and multiple types of penetration. If you are not into or offended by that then this will not be the book for you. Despite some of the other reviews I have read, there is a story among all the sex. The author does a good job of seeding a bit of backstory of the other band members which helps round out their personalities and set up the future books.

There was some hygiene issues that made me cringe. A woman that is a sex psychologist should be fully aware of the health safety of the female reproductive system and that fecal matter mixed into other female openings of the body causes infection. These events, which were frequent, constantly pulled me out of the story and caused me to have to take away a star of my rating.

I used the audiobook version, which has the hotter cover, and was narrated by Justine O. Keef. The narrator had a rough start and I think that is because it starts with the main character Myrna. That character was off for the whole book. It was as if the rhythm for Myrna was completely out of sync or off key with the rest of the characters. The band members were good so it was not too distracting overall.

I finally got my hands on a Runaway Vampire!

Runaway Vampire, Book 23 in The Argeneau Series by Lynsay Sands, was just released this past February and I’m excited to have it in my possession! The Italian Twins are finally getting their stories! Book 23 is Dante Notte’s story and Tomasso’s story will soon follow this fall in Book 24.

My first reaction when I heard Dante was the focus of the next book was, “Finally!” but then I was a little sad. I worried about Tomasso and didn’t want him to be left alone. The two of them are a tight pair that is rarely without the other and it would be so sad for one to find love while the other is left as a sad third wheel. Those that are into this series will totally understand my concerns. There was a small twinge in my gut that Tomasso was going to get killed off but I doubted Mrs. Sands would ever do something so cruel to her fans. I then thought maybe Tomasso would be lumped into Dante’s story as a two for one package being as they are two peas in pod. It was not a long wait to ease my mind and answer my questions for book 24 which is going to be Tomasso’s story. He gets his own book! It will be out in the fall of this year. I’m sure it will still be agony waiting for it even if it was just a month away. Luckily I got in early on the wait-list at my local library and I now have book 23 in hand in audio format and am eagerly awaiting my listen.

The Argeneau Series is one of my favorites to which I have all of the eBooks for and currently working on a full series break down and a re-read/listen of the entire series to contribute reviews to the various outlets. It is a long running series with many books to sink your teeth into already out there and with many optional books to be written. All of the books in this series are in audio format except one novella which is a pretty awesome ratio.

It will take me longer to write a review on this title than it will to read/listen to it as typing is not my strongest skill due to not being able to feel most of my left hand. I am also currently in the middle of another book so it will take me about 2 days to complete them both. I think I am going to start doing a “First Impressions” review on the stories as I first complete them and then follow up with a more detailed review later once I have time to type it all up. What your reading now took me all day to type up.

Be sure to check back in a few days for my “First Impression” of Dante’s story Runaway Vampire book 23 in The Argeneau Series.

Welcome!

workInProgress

This site is a running work in progress dedicated to my love of listening to audiobook romances. I love romance series and with my MS, reading a physical book is not always easy so that is where having an audio version is very helpful. I still like having an eBook version of the story to follow along with when possible and for taking my notes, which I always seem to loose. I devour stories at the rate of a book a day so it is hard to keep up with all the different series when a new book comes out. Some of theses series are very long running and to re-read the whole series every time would be time consuming. I always wished there was a site to help me jump back in that is similar to a wiki but easier to use. So I just made one myself. This is a way to quickly refresh yourself with the series you love once a new book comes out. I hope others find it as useful as I do.

Please note this site will always be “under construction” as I can’t stop listening to my stories. 😛
