Great characters and world building. For a first in series book, the balance of new info to story was excellent. There is a lot of action, a little steam, a few laughs, and even a tear or two. The main characters get a HEA/HFN ending as this has an over arcing theme that will carry through for the next two books. This is a trilogy, but I could see room to add more stories after this set is complete. 🤞
This is a shifter story so there is insta-love and mate claiming, but it all just works. There is some violence and memories of violence, as that is part of the heroine’s main gift.
This is my first time with author Linzi Baxter. She has put her own spin on this new shifter series and her characters will pull you in from the start. I’m excited to listen to more. Hopefully the rest of this series will make it to audio soon!
This story is performed in dual POV of the two main characters Talia and Kirin. Heather Costa is new to me but I feel she did a good job, especially being paired with veteran, Jeffrey Kafer. If you listen to a lot of Sci-Fi & Fantasy like I do, Jeffrey should not be be a new narrator to you. As always, he is excellent.
I find that by adjusting the playback speed greatly improves the production. Heather played best at 0.95x and Jeffrey at 0.90x speeds. I ultimately settled for 0.90x as constant adjustments proves taxing.

Overdrive holds I’m waiting to listen to in the month of November 2019!
Some titles have an ebook version that has long been published, but this release schedule is for the Audiobook only.
(❣) ~Denotes a title that I am rocking in a corner in anticipation over!
(This is most likely a character in a series that everyone has been waiting on their book!!)

Stray is a standalone, by Natasha Stories.
Jeffrey Kafer & Sierra Kline narrates.
HEA, no cliffhangers!
This is a standalone title. Read at your liesure..
Length: 7 hrs and 32 mins
Content Warning
SEX?: Yes Both in thoughts and actions, so if you do not like sex, then you should avoid.
I think just about every character in this story is a Stray in one way or another. The story takes place in Sunshine, Colorado which has a small town/touristy vibe. There is deep history that is at the root of things. A lot of closet to shake out skeletons.
Jon Miles’ father is the one who betrayed the the town of Sunshine, but Jon is the one paying the price. He has inherited his father’s shares of the company and wants to undo the wrongs to prevent more damage to the local area. He knows it’s not going to be easy, but things get tricky as the secrets start to spill out.
Erin Timms is trying to make her dreams come true, despite her current and past set backs. She is trying to save up to buy the Vet clinic she works for, but the boss’s daughter is trying her patience and making her question her decisions. Jon brings an injured stray to Erin at the clinic and all of their lives are forever changed, including the dog.
The large number of subplots are a doubled edged sword to me. They are set up, explained, then solved, nothing is left “unanswered”. I just need more! Just a little bit, to make it feel complete. Its not a biggie kind of issue, just keeps it from being a five stars listen for me. I’m going to forever wonder about Minerva’s health and if Mrs. P. ever found Maharajah?! Not to mention the question poised at the end as to how? Can’t really say more but when you get to the Epilogue, you’ll know what I’m talking about. Doesn’t change the outcome of anything, it just perplexes the mind!
This was my first listen/read by Natasha Stories, and won’t be my last. Great characters. Max totally stole the show!
Stray has Two(2) Narrators:
Jeffrey Kafer & Sierra Kline.
Jeffrey Kafer was great. Both with voices as well as the general story narration. He did drop the ball a couple of times with Mrs. P. if she was sharing the scene with Jon. Jeffrey is an excellent performer with a long list of titles. This is not my first, nor my last. Several of his titles are on my wish-list.
This was my first listen by Sierra Kline. She was great at evoking the emotions. I would listen to more titles performed by her.
The original speed was not consistant. Some chapters seemed slow with others being a bit too fast. I ended up settling on @ 1.05 speed. Don’t be afraid to experiment.

From best-selling author Natasha Stories.
Erin Timms took a new job as a veterinarian in Sunshine, Colorado, for two important reasons: to get away from her ex, and to give herself a chance at a new life. But when devastating news of her ex follows her there, she begins to think she has made a terrible mistake.
Tall, stunning-looking Jon Miles had only one goal: to save the mountain canyon where Sunshine is located from businessmen who want to exploit it. But how can he do that when he is already an outcast?
There was nothing to suggest they’d ever meet, much less strike a spark of red-hot romance. Except that Erin can never turn away a stray….
I’m Natasha, and I write romance and erotic romance stories. I love reading too, and some of my favourite novels are books like Fifty Shades of Grey by E L James, the Fade series by Kate Dawes, as well as the Crossfire series.
Sierra Kline – Programmer by day, narrator by night, Sierra Kline has more than 300 titles available on Audible. True to her Midwestern roots, Sierra got her degree in theatre from Michigan State University which she has been fortunate to put to heavy use both on the stage and in the booth. When she’s not recording in her home studio, she prefers the great outdoors and loves running, traveling, and backpacking.
Jeffrey Kafer – Jeffrey Kafer is a full-time SAG-AFTRA audiobook narrator. He has narrated over 450 books in almost every genre for such authors Clive Barker, Steve Alten, Maya Banks, Gregg Olsen and many others. He has 2 degrees in cinema and broadcasting and spent the first part of his career as a video game tester for Microsoft before following his true passion of acting. He’s been on stage since he was 13 (his mom still has the bellhop costume she made) and currently lives in Los Angeles with his family and dog.
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Sierra Kline. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
