Review: After You by Stephanie Rose

My Reviews
Deep and Emotional!

After You is the final interconnected Standalone novel in the 3 book Second Chances Series. After You is the only one in audio format. Because of this, I ask you take this review with a grain of salt. The characters, specifically Jack, probably carry more weight and meaning to those that have been reading this series. To me, I have just met them, so they are not as dear to me as they may be to others. If I have the chance to read all the other interconnected stories I will update this review. As it stands though, I have to review this with what I got.

Ellie Taylor is a widow with a young son. Her husband, Jack, died a few years ago, and despite his personal requests for her to move on after he was gone, she is finding it hard to do so. Jack knew he was leaving this world and that he would be leaving behind both a young wife and son. He wanted to make sure she wasn’t left to live out the rest of her hopefully long life alone.

At the start of the book Jack has passed already, but he has left letters with a friend to be delivered at strategic times in the lives of the loved ones he left behind. Between these and the memories of those still alive, it is as if Jack is still present. His letters are definitely heart string pulling.

Nick, our hero, tries really hard to make a relationship work with Ellie, but she does not make it easy. He gives it a valiant effort, but she fights far too hard. Ellie’s over-determination to not move on frustrated me. To me, the story is way emotional from the first page and could of done with less running from Ellie and still be just as emotional. All of Ellie’s angst wore me out be the end.

This was my first read by Stephanie Rose. This story is very emotional and the writing captures all the heart wrenching woes. I tend to pace myself on these types of stories. My tender heart bleeds easily. I definitely need a happy palate cleanser story after this intense emotional ride.

Tracy Marks captures every tear jerky, gut stabbing moment this book has to offer. She is an asset to the angst and woe.

I give this book a 4. It evokes the emotions the writing is aiming for. If you like the deep feels kind of books, you will love this. If that kind of book takes a toll on your heart like me, then have a light happy story on standby to read/listen to afterwards.

Read Along With Me: No Ordinary Billionaire Part 01

Read Along With Me
@ Chapter 01

Funeral!!!!!! What?!

Patrick? Who’s Patrick?
Mrs. Scott you got me stressing and I’m not even a page in!

So this is Dante Sinclair’s book. Which I’m sure you knew already.
He’s a Detective, and I’m sure a HOT one.

Only half-way through the chapter and I already got the feels for this man.

Let’s all together now give Dante a big group hug!

We you Dante!

Yay! Grady! We you too!

@ Chapter 02

Sooo…. We meet our heroine, Dr. Sarah Baxter.

Mrs. Busy Body, the town gossip Elsie Renfrew is hinting to the story line possibilities.
Regardless of the fact that Sarah doesn’t seem to be interested in all the destiny talk and matchmaking efforts, I’m all for!

I have a feeling we will see Elsie’s partner in crime, Beatrice Gardener, not only later in this story but quite possibly in future stories.

Awe… They Dante too!

Ooooo… House Calls. That has sexy time written all over it!

So Sarah is 27 and a Doctor. She has mentioned early advancement in school, so I ‘m sure there is a longer story there.

@ Chapter 03

Boo! No Smexy Shower!

Applause for the random trivia!
No one seems to truly appreciates it, unless it’s trivia night at the bar.

Yes. You are an asshole.
Now think about how you can make it up to her!

Now we are getting somewhere!

H-O-T! Oh, And Did I Say Hot!

This is as close to reality as it comes for the home reader of erotica that has no real experience in anything even remotely kinky.

Many women romanticize about the world of BDSM, but if one was actually trying to make the page become a reality, it would probably end up a lot like Winter. We would have lots of cheap pieces ordered from amazon and a small collection of overly sexy outfits, but still never seeming to leave the perch at the bar.

Winter is determined to live out the fantasies she reads about, even going as far as to drag her best friend and coworker Simon along for the ride. Once she lays eyes on her Mystery Hottie, she realizes she may not be quite cut out for this lifestyle, because she wants so much more than just a random encounter.

Mystery Hottie turns out to be a scrumptious desert of a man named Sorin, who is a regular and very much not looking for more. He doesn’t even like to do the same girl twice so there is no misinterpretations of his intentions. He can’t help being drawn to his Little Miss Sunshine and her inexperience and the deep desire to ruin her for other men.

Their perceived ideas of the rules of the game and how they think it’s going to play out couldn’t be any more wrong, but in a good way. Trust me, its Oh so Good!

I can relate a lot to the heroine in this story. She wants to have a crazy sexy adventure, but she wants to do it with just one man, the same man, Her man.

This is my first read from Sky Corgan and I am not disappointed! The writing was full of heat and emotions. You feel for Winter and really want to see her get her hottie and do bad thing to him! And Sorin heats you up so much you want to do naughty things to your significant other! You have been warned!

Thank you Irina Stone for delivering a lust inducing performance while also nailing the other characters. Pun intended! I felt right in the middle of the story the whole time.

I give this 5 out of 5 naughty stars and recommend this to anyone who likes their stories Hot!

Review: Ruby and the Beast by Ditter Kellen

My Reviews
Great modern day retelling of Beauty & the Beast!

I’ve always loved Beauty & the Beast, and find it hard to pass up a retelling of it. This modern take on my favorite classic, has the supernatural elements we are familiar with mixed into the real life scenarios of New Orleans.

Lincoln, aka The Beast, was cursed in the womb by an angry witch practicing black magic voodoo. I was very angry at this because he was being punished for the sins of his father, so not fair! He really wants to break his curse but feels revenge will be his only solace.

Ruby, aka Beauty, finds her family’s secrets run darker than she ever suspected. Her issues keep piling up until she is forced to make a deal with the devil in an effort to not lose all she holds dear.

There is a riddle, a rose, and furry hunky goodness, oh my! If you like Beauty and the Beast, you will not be disappointed.

This is my first read by Ditter Kellen, and I want more! I love the writing with the twists and turns, and the secondary characters and a wolf named Satan are super adorable. I look forward to reading more titles by this author.

Johnny Mack Does a fantastic job narrating this story. There are many characters that span many ages and he pulls it off with relish! Everyone has a distinct voice and it’s easy to get lost in the story. Sadly my favorite is only used a small amount in the end. Transformed Lincoln sounds HOT!

5 of 5 stars!
