Written word equivalent of a power ballad!

This collection of poetry is the written word equivalent of power ballad!
–It can be a cry for pinning love, the tears of losing love, or the angry middle finger to the one that did you wrong!

Leanne Yau really did this audiobook justice! I had the feels even if I had no clue what was going on in the poem.

This is very intense and passionate poetry. It says there is a little bit of everything but many of the pieces were dark and angsty.

This was not so much for me, as I am fairly stable in my love life, but I would highly recommend this to those of you out there that are not in the same place in life, especially if you are in the dating pool.

Overall I give this 4 of 5 stars!

Review: The Billionaire’s Christmas by J. S. Scott

My Reviews
Good Start to the Series

This is just a novella, so it is considered number 0.05 of the series, but it’s still the beginning.

We get a good introduction to the Sinclair family as we start with Grady, the Amesport Beast.

This short story is a play on the Beauty and the Beast classic, minus the fantasy elements. Grady Sinclair is our Beast and Emily Ashworth is our Beauty. There is still a castle of a house and hiding hero, but Grady is not quite as beastly as he is made out to be. He is just a recluse with a social anxiety issue. Our Beauty, however, does make a deal out of desperation.

Grady is adorkable and totally going on my book boyfriend list!

By the end of the book, all the Sinclair children have been introduced. It is not totally clear on their birth order, but the prologue leads to a different impressions than the epilogue does.

There are characters mentioned that are part of another series by J. S. Scott, so if you have read The Billionaire’s Obsession Series, some people in this one will be familiar to you. Given how tight these boys are, I wonder if Grady has already shown up in that series. It is quite possible that all the Sinclair siblings have made appearances, but I have not read that one yet.

The narrator Elizabeth Powers is excellent, however the volume level of the recording is not consistent. The whispers that are used to represent the heroine thoughts, get so low to the point that the volume needs to be raised to hear what is being said. This consistently takes you out of the story because of the need to constantly adjust the volume, which is not always easy to do on certain devices.

Overall I give this 5 of 5 stars! And can’t wait to get started on the next one!

Super Sweet and Sexy!

Adele is so adorable and so is the main love interest Oliver!

Adele Blackthorne is curvy and she knows it and she owns it! She made herself sick when she tried to live up to others ideas of what is the right ideal type for her body, so she made a pack with herself to be healthy not skinny. So what if she isn’t a size 2. She is a chef, owns her own business, and not only eats healthy but also swims at the local leisure center. This is where she gets eyefuls of the hunky lifeguard who stars in her fantasies on a regular basis.

Oliver hears the hateful things the mean girls say about Adele, and he hates it. Turns out he has been lusting after Adele just as much if not more. He wants to do something about the verbal bullying, but doesn’t want to get fired. He totally blows his shot at telling Adele how he feels, but luckily a cheerful bartender helps him fix his blunder.

The two give love a second chance and find out that they have a lot more in common than they might have thought. They are so sweet and adorable together, I just want to give them both a big hug! I totally agree with Adele that there is a big difference between being naked in front of someone and stripping in front of them. Being naked is just naked, but if you strip for someone, it is a long focus on your body and way more unnerving.

Don’t worry about the b*@#%es, cause they don’t go un-scolded.

This audiobook is narrated by Xanthia Bloom. She does a good job with all the various characters, as well as with the story telling.

Overall I give this 5 of 5 stars!

Love the slow burn!

This story takes it time and allows for the couple to get comfortable as they get to know one another. That being said, this still takes place over only a week, but they aren’t just jumping into bed with each other immediately without so much as a hello!

Celine Patterson is camerawoman early in her career trying fill her resume. Jobs are not plentiful for a newbie so she takes a low paying, hardworking gig as the one person crew for Edward Robson. He is an older mid-list actor making a documentary on a smaller than asked for budget. Knowing how much of a raw deal Celine is getting, Edward tries to do what he can to make up for it. As the attraction grows between the two, they both worry over if it’s all in their head or is the other person feeling the same way.

Both characters come off as genuine people who put their own happiness over the opinions of others. And these two actually do something quite foreign in most stories and communicate! It’s amazing what complications can be avoided if you just have a conversation first!

I found this couple’s interactions quite endearing. I was rooting for them the whole way. Regardless of the age difference, they are still two adults who want to find love and companionship.

The Narrator of this audiobook is Xanthia Bloom. She does Celine and Edward justice. There is good distinction between the two and the story narration. That is most if not all of the parts of the story.

Overall I give this 5 of 5 stars!

My Reviews
Good palate cleanser book!

It’s short, but doesn’t hold back on the steamy.

It’s got love, sex, mystery, and a happy ending.

Despite saying everyone else’s name as well as giving some people nicknames, you never find out what the heroine’s name is. It doesn’t seem to dampen the story, because I wasn’t even aware of this until I went to write this review! I search through the whole e-book and not one time is her actual name used. I don’t think I have ever had that happen in a book before. So for the sake of this review, I am going to name her Vacation Girl.

So, Vacation Girl is on an island get away trip trying to forget her ex who cheated on her. She see one of the locals on her first day, whom she names Coconut Man because he travels around selling, you guessed it, coconuts as well as other fresh fruits and juices. She has lusted over him despite having various wealthy men thrust at her by her best friend Dana, who is sounds like she is looking for her own man more than one for Vacation Girl.

This island seems to have 2 kinds of guests, families and horny people. Soon our Vacation Girl gets her wish, or one could say fantasies, of alone time with her Coconut Man. As to what that entails and how it all ends, you will have to read that for yourself, but I will say, you won’t be left unsatisfied.

This audiobook is narrated by Xanthia Bloom. She does an excellent job as always. There are not that many talking characters in this story, as most of the interactions are in Vacation Girl’s head.

Overall I give this 5 of 5 stars, and would recommend this to anyone that wants a steamy short listen with a happy ending. It’s a good book for in-between some of your more serious stories.
